2025 Arbor Award Recipients

The University of Toronto Arbor Award is the highest honour granted by the university to volunteers, and is given for sustained contributions to a given faculty, college, or the University overall.

The Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy is proud to announce our 2025 Arbor Award recipients and to recognize them for their tremendous impact and outstanding dedication to our community.

Michael Do
Headshot of Michael Do

1T0 BScPhm

Since 2018, Michael has supported student learning through the Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) rotations, providing fourth-year students with hands-on workplace training. As a one-on-one and speed mentor in the PharmaSEE Mentorship Program, he fosters professional growth in students and promotes alumni engagement to his peers. Michael has also contributed as a panelist in our popular Pharmacy Changemakers Series, generously sharing his time, experience, and advice to help alumni and students thrive in their careers.

Why he volunteers:

“In the last decade, no healthcare profession has transformed how they work more than pharmacy. Empowering our students is critical both for the profession and a healthcare system that continues to operate at full capacity. Their energy and optimism are contagious, and as they begin their careers, they have the potential to spark lasting, positive change across the healthcare system.”

Ramon Goomber
Headshot of Ramon Goomber

0T7 BScPhm

Ramon is a dedicated volunteer, enthusiastically serving on the Dean's Advisory Committee and as a founding member of the Alumni Awards Selection Committee, where he helped establish the criteria and hone the process of recognizing our outstanding alumni. He has supported student development as a Speed Mentor in the PharmaSEE Mentorship Program and contributed to new alumni engagement as a Young Alumni Committee member. Ramon's thoughtful leadership continues to strengthen our community.

Why he volunteers:

"Volunteering at the Faculty has been both a privilege and a meaningful way for me to give back. As a student, I was deeply influenced by the support and guidance of my mentors, who have since become valued colleagues and friends. Those experiences have inspired me to contribute in that same way.  Through my involvement with the Dean’s Advisory Council, Alumni Awards Committee, PharmaSEE Mentorship, and the launch of the Young Alumni Committee, I have sought to give back in ways that uplift and inspire future generations of pharmacists. I hope these efforts will encourage today’s students as they embark on their own journeys."

Muriel Heska
Headshot of Muriel Heska

7T5 BScPhm

For the past 10 years, Muriel has served as the Pharmacy Class of 7T5 Ambassador, leading reunion planning and championing the creation of and fundraising for the Class of 7T5 Award. This student award supports future generations of pharmacy students while celebrating the enduring legacy of the class. Muriel's dedication, warmth, and tireless efforts have helped strengthen alumni bonds and leave a meaningful, lasting impact on the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy.

Why she volunteers:

My future professional life was shaped by my four years of study at U of T in the Faculty of Pharmacy. I learned much more than facts and drug information – I learned how to evaluate, research and assimilate new knowledge, as advances in medicine and medications required constant updating.

I was privileged to practice in both community and hospital pharmacy, and to mentor students from U of T as a Teaching Associate in the Structured Practical Experience Program (SPEP). I heard first-hand of the tuition costs and struggles of pharmacy students.

I have loved my work as a pharmacist, and am happy to support today’s students by birthing and nurturing our Class of 7T5 Award.

Victor Wong
Headshot of Victor Wong

0T6 BScPhm

Since 2018, Victor has been a dedicated mentor in the PharmaSEE Mentorship Program, guiding students with warmth and insight. He has served as a speed mentor at student and alumni networking events, spoken positively of the Faculty to the U of T Quality Assurance Process as an alumni interviewee, and actively participates in alumni initiatives like our Changemakers series. Victor's consistent and enthusiastic involvement reflects his commitment to our students and the Faculty's mission.

Why he volunteers:

“When I was a student at the UofT Faculty of Pharmacy, mentors opened my eyes to all the possibilities of what pharmacists could achieve as healthcare professionals, innovators, and leaders. This encouragement shaped my journey through community practice, hospital, industry, consulting, and governance on the Board of the Ontario College of Pharmacists. Today, I give back by mentoring students to share the same spark of possibility that inspired me. Giving back is both gratitude for my past and a commitment to our future."
