The administrative team for the PharmD for Pharmacists program at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy has been recognized with U of T’s Excellence Through Innovation Award.
Through their focused efforts, Catherine Kwong, program assistant, and Cecelia Power, program coordinator, successfully sourced, customized, and implemented the FlightPath platform. This digital tool was a crucial step in addressing time-consuming and outdated systems for tracking student progress. It allowed the team to design and customize certain fields to reflect data entry points relevant to the program's needs.

“Implementing this new system has been transformative in keeping up with the program's growth,” says Kathy Vu, pharmacist and program director at PharmD for Pharmacists. “The team works to meet with students one-on-one at the beginning of the term to discuss program pathways aligned with students’ interests. This plan is entered into the FlightPath academic system and supports the administrative team and the students as they work towards completing their degree.”
The PharmD for Pharmacists program at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy is a part-time degree bridging program. It is specifically designed for pharmacists with a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy (BScPhm) or equivalent who are eager to expand their skills and explore new opportunities in the profession by completing a PharmD degree.
“This new platform significantly enriches the student experience and enhances the quality of student services provided by the program,” said Jamie Kellar, associate dean academic, Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy. “It’s great to see the team’s hard work and dedication to continuous improvement and innovation recognized with this award.”
As the program continues to evolve, the team is working to adapt the platform to be dynamic to integrate pathways including certificate completions within the degree program. The next phase of this work will enable students to directly access their progression pathway, further customizing to create value and add to student experiences during the program.
