The I’m Pharmacy Podcast, produced at the University of Toronto’s Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, has won two awards as part of the inaugural Signal Awards competition recognizing excellence in podcasting.
Season 2 of the popular U of T podcast explored the lifecycle of a drug, featuring experts and leaders from across pharmacy practice, pharmaceutical sciences, and industry. “From thought to therapeutic, the journey of a drug has more steps than you may think, and each of them is crucial to success,” said host and assistant professor Mina Tadrous when the season launched last fall.
Winners of the inaugural Signal Awards competition were announced on January 10, 2023 with Episode 5 of the I’m Pharmacy Podcast achieving both the Listener’s Choice Award and a Silver Award in the Individual Episode, Science and Education category. Other competitors in this category included Unfold by UC Davis, Radio Davos by the World Economic Forum, and Nature Podcast. Over 1700 submissions were received by Signal Awards and high-profile winners in other categories include Overheard at National Geographic and Unexplainable by Vox Media Podcast Network.
“It’s very exciting to achieve this level of recognition for our podcast,” said Tadrous. “It shows how issues in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences are of widespread interest and importance across the board.”
Listen to Episode 5: On Trial
Episode 5: On Trial dove into the world of clinical trials and the different components that go into this gold standard for clinical evidence, the final step before market access. Tadrous interviewed Dr. Rob Van Exan, a veteran of the pharmaceutical industry with over 35 years experience in vaccine development, and Dr. Lee Dupuis, Professor and Clinician Scientist at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy and The Hospital for Sick Children.
