An introduction to knowledge syntheses: how to successfully prepare, execute and publish a systematic or scoping review  

This graduate seminar will introduce different knowledge synthesis types, including systematic, scoping, rapid, and other methods-based reviews. By the end of the seminar, participants should be able to:  

a.       Articulate the characteristics of a knowledge synthesis, including the methodological steps and what makes it different from a standard literature review;  
b.       Discuss strategies to plan and prepare for conducting a review;  
c.       Utilize software and project management tools to ease the review process, and; 
d.       Understand what makes a review “publishable” and learn strategies for successful publication

Glyneva Bradley Ridout (Hons. B.A., MI) started in the position of Liaison & Education Librarian at Gerstein Science Information Centre in December 2018. Her role includes supporting the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, the Department of Nutritional Sciences, and the Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology through teaching, one-on-one consultations, and collaboration on knowledge syntheses and other publications. Glyneva also selects and manages the collection in a number of health science subject areas. Prior to joining the team at Gerstein, Glyneva was a hospital librarian at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto
