Ronald A. Siegel received his ScD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT in 1984. His dissertation was carried out under Robert Langer. From 1984-1998 he was on the faculty of Biopharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of California at San Francisco. He moved to the University of Minnesota (UMN) in 1998, where he is Professor of Pharmaceutics and Biomedical Engineering. He was Department Head of Pharmaceutics at UMN from 1999-2009 and 2020-2024. Professor Siegel was President of the Controlled Release Society (CRS) during 1997-1998. He is Fellow of CRS, the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, and the American Institute of Biological and Medical Engineering. Over his career, he has published experimental and theoretical studies in drug delivery, polymer science, microfabrication, and pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics.
