PSEDI Seminar Speaker Series presents -- Dr. Jasmine Abrams

Dr. Jasmine Abrams is a Health Psychologist who examines the influence of sociocultural and psychological factors on domestic and global health disparities with a special focus on women of African ancestry. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor of Community Health Sciences at Boston University School of Public Health and a Visiting Research Fellow at the Yale University School of Public Health. Utilizing culture as a lens to better understand health behaviors and outcomes, the overarching goal of her work is to promote health equity and positive behavior change via the development, implementation, and evaluation of multi-level evidence-based interventions. Her long-term research and programming goals are to continue utilizing participatory methods while partnering with communities, domestically and globally, to conduct work that contributes to improved health outcomes for women of African ancestry. In this regard, she values and utilizes frameworks and research methods that facilitate collaborative engagement, community empowerment, and capacity building for sustainable change. Dr. Abrams is also the founder of the Thrive Institute for Professional Development, a science-driven company focused on providing transformative training and retreat experiences for researchers and graduate students, helping them to increase their productivity and achieve their career goals without sacrificing their wellbeing.
