The 12th annual Ontario Pharmacy Student Integrative Summit (OPSIS) is a for-students, by-students conference that brings together learners from the University of Toronto, the University of Waterloo and, more recently, the University of Ottawa for a weekend of learning, networking and competition.

This year’s theme, Ignite: Find Your Spark, embodied the limitless potential of pharmacy’s future leaders, aiming to inspire delegates to dream bigger, aim higher and pursue excellence, while creating lasting memories and professional connections.

Putting pharmacy students to the test, OPSIS included a debate competition where students could show off their quick thinking and general pharmacy knowledge, as well as case competitions to test their knowledge of therapeutics. The conference also featured its popular tradeshow, including sponsors such as Rexall, the Ontario Pharmacists Association (OPA) and Dexcom, allowing students to network and gain valuable insight into their future careers.

As the profession of pharmacy continues to evolve, pharmacists are stepping into expanded roles across health care, research, policy and industry. OPSIS is designed to inspire students to explore these opportunities, connect with leaders in the field and spark ideas that will shape the future of pharmacy.

As conference organizers, this experience showed us that pharmacy students are truly here to be the best professionals they can be. They showed up, collaborated and created new connections that they can carry throughout their careers. OPSIS aims to ignite that spark in future pharmacy professionals, encouraging students to explore new possibilities and push the boundaries of what pharmacy can be.

We hope to see you there again next year!
