Criteria for Approval (Site and Preceptor Requirements)

  • Provides unique learning opportunities that are not otherwise available locally/nationally
  • Approval of elective outline by designated UofT OEE faculty member
  • Learning goals and objectives are sufficiently described
  • Fulfills three or more of the following objectives:

- Facilitates student learning of host country pharmacy practice systems and regulations
- Enables student learning of social and cultural determinants of health in host country
- Cross-cultural context/exposure
- Provides student exposure to inter-professional collaboration within host country context
- Provides students opportunities (e.g. project/research/drug evaluation) that contributes/fulfills site requirements for advancement of patient care, medication and patient safety or public health/health promotion

  • Site preceptor(s) is/are able to communicate in English and via email
  • Site preceptor(s) qualifications (Curriculum Vitae) demonstrate adequate requirements/experience to precept student(s)
  • Site preceptor (s) is/are willing and able to provide the instruction, supervision and assessment needed for students to perform activities, complete assignments and achieve competency in the outlined elective objectives
  • Site preceptor and student will have access to internet to use UofT’s experiential database management system for required documentation
  • Site is able to accommodate student for a minimum of 5 weeks during the designated time slot
  • Site provides information physical environmental issues, including housing, transportation, communication, safety and language
  • Completed “Site Agreement” where applicable
