Meeting of the Ontario College of Pharmacists and the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy

On April 10th, 2017, newly appointed Registrar and CEO of the Ontario College of Pharmacists Nancy Lum-Wilson visited the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy. Joined by her College colleagues Connie Campbell, Anne Resnick and Susan James, Ms. Lum-Wilson met with Dean Heather Boon and a diverse group of educators and researchers from the Faculty.

The meeting focused on sharing ideas, strategies and initiatives between the College and the Faculty. Various education and research topics were explored and presented including:  preceptor development, interprofessional education, internationally educated health professionals, continuous quality improvement in  pharmacies, the diabetes pharmacists network in Canada, the management of sedation, pain and delirium,  clinical trials with cannabis, deprescribing and the evaluation of expanded professional pharmacy services in Ontario.

Participants from both the Faculty and the College agreed that this was a valuable meeting that facilitated discussion of shared interests and identification of opportunities for future collaboration. This event highlighted many important areas of research in which researchers at the Faculty are engaged and   highlighted the potential to work together to meet the medication management needs of Ontarians.

The Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy and the Ontario College of Pharmacists look forward to continuing their collaborative partnership.
