Structured Practical Experience Program (SPEP)

In this program, year-4 students completed 16 weeks of the Structured Practical Experience Program (SPEP) as part of the former BScPhm curriculum. Dedicated SPEP preceptors mentored and assessed students as they applied the knowledge and skills acquired during the program. Early Practical Experience 1 and 2 (EPE)

From May to August after Year-1 and Year-2, students participate in the Early Practice Experience course to gain direct patient care experience in hospital or community settings. Preceptors support and complement the in-class learning that takes place throughout the school year and prepare students for their Advance Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) year. The Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE)

Launched for the 2014-2015 academic year, the Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) undertaken by students in Year 4, is 35 weeks in length consisting of five and/or 1- week rotation blocks (that occur over 12 months starting in May and finishing in April the following year.  A variety of patient care environments, such institutional practice, ambulatory care practice, community practice and indirect patient care practice are included.  Students may be placed throughout the GTA or travel to placement sites across Ontario to implement skills and knowledge acquired under the supervision of dedicated preceptors.
